The Rangpur Four Murder Case has taken a new turn after police handed over the investigation to the Detective Branch (DB). The case was previously being investigated by Kotwali Police Station in Rangpur.
The decision was made to allow a more detailed investigation and help police complete the case quickly. Zinat Ali, an inspector of the Rangpur Metropolitan DB, has been given responsibility for the investigation.

The incident happened in Daspara area of Rangpur city. On Saturday night, police recovered the bodies of four members of the same family from their home.

The victims were retired schoolteacher Ganapati Chakraborty, his wife Pritilata Chakraborty, their daughter Agami Chakraborty Prarthi and their 12-year-old son Priyam Chakraborty.
Police said the four victims were strangled.
The deaths shocked local residents and led to questions about what happened inside the house.
Investigation Handed Over to DB | Rangpur Four Murder Case
Milton Kumar Chatterjee, who was previously investigating the case, handed over the case documents and other evidence to Zinat Ali.
The two investigators also visited the house where the four bodies were found. During the visit, the former investigator explained the early findings and other important details to the new investigation officer.
Rangpur Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Sanatan Chakraborty confirmed that the case had been transferred to the DB.
The move means the Detective Branch will now examine the evidence and investigate the case from its current stage.
Two Suspects Arrested | Rangpur Four Murder Case
Police arrested two young men in connection with the case on Sunday morning. They were identified as 23-year-old Mugdha Das and 19-year-old Siddhartha Das. Both are residents of the Daspara area.
Police later gave details about the suspected motive behind the killings.
According to Rangpur Metropolitan Police Commissioner Abdul Mabud, Ganapati Chakraborty had reportedly objected to the accused using drugs on the roof of the house. Police said this could have been connected to the attack on the family.

The case has created concern among local residents. Several groups held protests in Rangpur following the killings.
Teachers and students of Rangpur Zilla School, along with members of the Rangpur Metropolitan Citizens Committee, held a protest rally.
Later, members of the National Citizen Party held a torch procession in the city.
Protesters demanded a proper investigation and punishment for everyone involved in the killings. They also questioned some parts of the police account of the incident.
One of the main questions raised by protesters was about the electricity connection at the house and who had cut the power line.

Palash Kanti Nag, general secretary of the Rangpur Metropolitan Citizens Committee, said they were not satisfied with the police explanation of the four deaths.
