A Nageshwari teacher arrested case has drawn attention in Kurigram after an assistant teacher was accused of attempting to sexually assault a fifth-grade student at a school in Nageshwari.
The teacher, identified as Abdul Motaleb, was arrested by police after the girl’s father filed a case at Nageshwari Police Station on Tuesday, September 1.
What Happened at the School?
The incident reportedly took place on Monday during the school’s break. According to the police and the girl’s family, the fifth-grade student was coming out of the school toilet when the teacher allegedly pulled her inside and attempted to sexually assault her.

The girl reportedly screamed, after which the teacher moved away. She later told others at the school about what had happened.
After school ended, the girl returned home and told her family about the incident. Her family then decided to contact the police.
Family Raises Serious Allegations
The girl’s father alleged that the teacher had behaved inappropriately toward his daughter before.
According to him, about three months earlier, the teacher had been accused of staring at the girl in an inappropriate manner. The family said they had informed a female teacher at the school about the earlier incident, but no action was taken at that time.
The father said he wants a proper investigation and justice for his daughter.
Police Nageshwari Teacher Arrested
The family said that when they were preparing to go to the police station, the school’s headteacher and a local madrasa teacher suggested resolving the matter locally.
Later, the issue was reported to the Kurigram superintendent of police. Following instructions from senior police officials, officers from Nageshwari Police Station went to the teacher’s home at around 1:30am.
A police team led by Officer-in-Charge Enamul Haque Pradhan arrested Abdul Motaleb from his residence.
The girl and her parents were also taken to the police station.
Headteacher Condemns the Alleged Incident
The school’s headteacher said the teacher’s alleged actions were wrong. He also said that he wanted the teacher to face the highest punishment if the allegations are established.
The family, meanwhile, has called for the case to be handled properly through the legal process.
Police Confirm the Case
Nageshwari Police Station OC Enamul Haque Pradhan confirmed that a case had been filed over the alleged attempted rape.
He said the girl was under police protection and that the arrested teacher had been sent to court.
