Sunamganj power outage: Residents in parts of Sunamganj city and nearby areas are expected to face a temporary power outage today, Saturday, August 15, due to urgent maintenance work on an underground power cable.
The electricity supply will remain suspended for around eight hours, according to a notice issued by the Sunamganj Sales and Distribution Division of the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB).
Sunamganj Power Outage From 8 AM to 4 PM
The planned outage is scheduled to start at 8:00 AM and continue until 4:00 PM.
During this period, customers under the BPDB’s Sunamganj distribution network in the city and surrounding areas will not have access to electricity.
The maintenance work is being carried out at the 33/11 kV GIS substation. Officials said the work is necessary to repair and maintain an underground cable connected to the substation.
As the work requires the electricity connection to be switched off, customers in the affected areas may experience a long interruption in power service.
Why Is Electricity Being Shut Off?
The main reason for today’s Sunamganj power outage is urgent repair and maintenance work on the underground cable.

The Sunamganj Sales and Distribution Division issued the notice on Friday, August 14, one day before the scheduled maintenance.

The advance notice is intended to help people prepare for the eight-hour interruption.

According to the announced schedule, the power supply is expected to resume after the maintenance period ends at 4:00 PM on Saturday.
