Two Children Killed: A family dispute has taken a tragic turn in Sunamganj, where a father is accused of killing his two young children and leaving their bodies in a haor. Police have detained the father, Kamrul Islam, in connection with the deaths.
The two children were identified as 7-year-old Muhaddis and 4-year-old Tulona. Police recovered Tulona’s body from the Dekhar Haor area of Borkapon in Shantiganj upazila on Tuesday. Muhaddis’s body was found on Wednesday afternoon in the Gobindapur area of the same hoar, under Sunamganj Sadar upazila.
Two Children Killed After Family Dispute in Sunamganj
According to police, Kamrul is a resident of Perua Madhupur village in Char Narchar union of Dirai upazila. During preliminary questioning, he reportedly admitted to killing his two children.
What Happened to the Two Children?
Police said Kamrul has four children. Family problems reportedly grew after disputes between the children and their mother. When the children fought, their mother would sometimes beat them, which led to arguments between Kamrul’s wife and his mother.

Police believe these family tensions played a role in the incident.
On Sunday, Kamrul reportedly left Dirai with his two children and first went to Sylhet. While returning from Sylhet, he allegedly gave sleeping medicine to Muhaddis and Tulona.
Police said he later killed the children and left their bodies at two separate locations in Dekhar Haor.
Police Recover Bodies From the Haor
The discovery of the children’s bodies shocked local residents.
On Wednesday morning, locals noticed a body floating in the water of Dekhar Haor and informed the police. Officers then went to the area and recovered the body.
Sunamganj Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Ratan Sheikh said police had recovered the bodies of the two children on Tuesday and Wednesday.
He said the father was detained after the incident and that initial questioning indicated that Kamrul had killed the children before leaving their bodies in the water.

Kamrul Islam is now in police custody as investigators look into the circumstances surrounding the deaths.
