Messi Scores Four: Lionel Messi produced a brilliant performance as Inter Miami returned to winning ways with a huge 7-1 victory over CF Montréal in Major League Soccer.
The Argentine star scored four goals and also made an assist in a memorable night for Miami. It was Messi’s first four-goal game since joining MLS and helped Inter Miami end a five-match winless run.
Miami started the match strongly and took the lead in the 20th minute. Casemiro rose above the Montréal defenders and headed the ball into the net from a corner taken by Telasco Segovia. It was Casemiro’s first league goal for Inter Miami.
Montréal responded before the end of the first half. Fabian Herbers found the net in the 37th minute to make the score 1-1.

The equaliser did not last long. Just three minutes later, Messi put Inter Miami back in front. He stepped up for a direct free kick and sent the ball past goalkeeper Thomas Gillier.
Miami went into the break with a 2-1 advantage.
Messi Scores Again in the Second Half
Messi continued to cause problems for the Montréal defence after the restart.
In the 52nd minute, the Inter Miami captain received the ball, moved past several defenders and finished calmly to make it 3-1.
Montréal struggled to deal with Miami’s attacking players as the second half went on. Messi remained at the centre of almost every major attacking move.
In the 80th minute, Messi turned from scorer into provider. He created an opportunity for Luis Suárez, and the former Barcelona forward finished the move to give Miami a four-goal lead.
Suárez’s goal made the score 4-1 and gave Inter Miami even more control of the match.
Three minutes later, Messi scored again. He spotted the goalkeeper off his line and produced a clever chip to complete his hat-trick.
But Messi was still not finished.

Inter Miami added another goal in the 89th minute through 18-year-old substitute Alexander Shaw. It was the young player’s first MLS goal.
The final moment belonged to Messi.
During stoppage time, he won another opportunity from a direct free kick. Messi stepped up and found the net once again, completing his four-goal performance.

That moved him to the top of the Golden Boot race at the end of the match. It was also the ninth time in his professional career that Messi had scored at least four goals in a single game.
For Inter Miami, the result was just as important as Messi’s individual achievement.
The club had gone five matches without a victory before this game. The 7-1 win finally gave the defending champions a much-needed boost.

The victory moved Inter Miami’s record to 12 wins, six draws and four defeats from 22 MLS matches.
Miami now have 42 points and remain second in the Eastern Conference.
However, they still have work to do if they want to catch the conference leaders. Nashville SC have 52 points from 22 matches, leaving Miami 10 points behind the leaders.
Inter Miami are the defending MLS Cup champions. They won their first MLS Cup title in 2025 after beating Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1 in the final.
With Messi in this kind of form, Miami will hope this big win can be the start of another strong run as they continue their MLS campaign.
